OKLAHOMA CITY INNOVATION LINK

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA

CREATED IN 2017 - LEAD PLANNER / VISUALIZATION

In April 2017, the Brookings Institute and the Project for Public Spaces released the findings of their 18-month study on whether the area east of I-235 could support an Innovation District. Core to this study was the need to create a connection across the highway to create more cohesion between the Health Science Center and Downtown Oklahoma City.  Enter the Innovation Link.  The link creates a plane of the park and retail areas over the existing highway to allow for free-flowing circulation across the site.  No longer an obstacle, this new development becomes a key connector between two of the largest districts in the city.  Although conceptual, this design leads to many of the ideas that are being undertaken by future MAPS projects for Oklahoma City.
